Every SmartScheduler license key<\/strong> works the same simple way \u2014 but if you’re not sure how SmartScheduler licensing works, you’re not alone. Many customers ask us the same questions: What is a “seat”? Do I need one license per screen? What happens if my computer breaks? This guide explains the whole system in plain terms.<\/p>\n\n \n

\n System requirement:<\/strong> SmartScheduler runs on Windows only \u2014 Windows 10 or later. It is not available for Android, macOS, or other operating systems.\n <\/div>\n\n

The basics: one License Key, two seats<\/h2>\n

A standard SmartScheduler License Key comes with 2 seats<\/strong>. Each seat lets you install and activate the software on one computer.<\/p>\n\n

\n The part that confuses people:<\/strong> we designed the two seats as “one for playback, one for editing” \u2014 but in practice, both seats run the exact same software with the exact same features. There is no real difference between them. Either one can control the other, play content, edit content, or manage other devices. You don’t need to worry about which seat is “the right one” \u2014 they’re interchangeable.\n <\/div>\n\n \n

Need to run more screens? Add seats to one key<\/h2>\n

If your project needs more than 2 screens, you’re not limited to buying separate keys. A single License Key can hold unlimited seats<\/strong>. This is common for larger rollouts \u2014 retail chains, restaurant groups, or any business running many screens from one account.<\/p>\n\n

Managing separate departments? Use separate keys<\/h2>\n

Some businesses want the opposite \u2014 departments that manage their own screens independently, without seeing or controlling each other’s devices. In that case, the answer is simple: use separate License Keys<\/strong> for each department.<\/p>\n

Devices activated under different keys are completely isolated from each other. A screen on Key A cannot control, or be controlled by, a screen on Key B. This makes SmartScheduler flexible enough for both a single-team setup and a multi-department enterprise setup \u2014 you choose the structure that matches how your organization actually works.<\/p>\n\n \n

How key-based control and content push work<\/h3>\n

The License Key isn’t just for activation \u2014 it’s also how devices find and talk to each other. Devices sharing the same key can control one another, and our content push (deployment) feature<\/strong> also uses the key to identify and reach the right devices. Think of the key as the “address” that ties a group of devices together.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n

Register a valid email when you activate<\/h2>\n

When you activate a License Key, you’ll be asked to enter an email address. We recommend using a valid, active email \u2014 this is what we use to record the complete Serial Number (SN) tied to your activation.<\/p>\n\n

\n Some sales channels include a physical card with your License Key and SN printed on it. If you purchased software only, you may not have a physical card at all \u2014 your registered email may be the only record of your SN.\n <\/div>\n\n

If you ever lose your card, you can retrieve your complete SN yourself using the email you registered at activation \u2014 no need to contact support.<\/p>\n\n

Keep your License Key safe \u2014 it can’t be replaced<\/h2>\n

Your License Key itself can’t be changed or swapped for a new one. Think of it like a password, not a seat.<\/p>\n\n

\n If your License Key is leaked or falls into the wrong hands, we will not issue a replacement.<\/strong> Please keep your key private and manage it carefully, the same way you would a password.\n <\/div>\n\n

This is different from simply misplacing your physical card \u2014 if you lose the card, you can still look up your key using your registered email (see above). But if the key itself is exposed to someone else, there’s no way to reset or reissue it.<\/p>\n\n \n

A lifetime license that moves with you<\/h2>\n

SmartScheduler License Keys are lifetime licenses<\/strong> \u2014 pay once, use forever, as long as the key itself isn’t lost or leaked. There’s no subscription, no renewal fee, no expiration date.<\/p>\n\n

Running out of seats? Add a key and merge it<\/h2>\n

As your business grows, you might need more seats than your original key has. No problem \u2014 purchase an additional key with the seats you need, then merge it into your original key<\/strong>. Once merged, the new key becomes invalid, and all its seats are simply added to your original key’s seat count.<\/p>\n

This means you never end up juggling multiple separate keys as your fleet grows. Everything consolidates into the one key you started with, so your device list and Groups stay in one place.<\/p>\n\n \n
